CMX Summit [Hashtags to Handshakes Show]

I had the pleasure of interviewing David Spinks, the creator of CMX Summit which is for community managers and those who care about building community.

David has some really interesting speakers at his conference, including the FBI, and I can tell that he is really passionate about building community.

The event takes place on June 12 – 13 2014 in NYC (Eyebeam Art + Technology Center)

How Inbound 2013 Turned Me Into A Philanthropist

A few weeks ago I attended Inbound 2013 in Boston.  I attended on a scholarship (I’m wicked smaart) and was honored to be there.  I came in there with 2 goals.  1. Get a better understanding of Inbound Marketing and 2. Give the founder of charity: water, Scott Harrison, one of my yellow bow ties (it matches the color of their logo and 20% of every bow tie I sell goes to charity: water).

Both goals where accomplished but I l left there with a new goal.

The New Goal

The new goal was inspired by listening to the charity: water story for a 2nd time.  Something inside of me was moved so I decided to help them move closer to their $2 million goal by running my own campaign.  The video below gives you some insight into my campaign.

I ended up with a goal of raising $10,000 and doing something that has never been done before for the good folks at charity: water.  Working with a small team, we are putting on the first 24hr social media-thon called, “$10k on 10/1.”  We are on a mission to raise $10,000 by 10/1.  The main ingredients in the social media-thon are 30 minute live G+ Hangouts where those who donate $45 or more can participate live.  It will be recorded and we will be accepting questions in exchange for donations via social media throughout the day.

How Conference Networking Fits In?

We have over 24 top notched speakers / experts who will be on G+ Hangouts at different parts of the day on 10/1.  The great thing is that I know the majority of them and met many of them at a conference.  I decided to leverage my network to make the campaign work.

Here are a few of the folks involved and where I met them:

How You Can Get Involved

You can learn more about the movement on our page: www.SocialMediaThon.org

Not interested in any of our G+ Hangouts you can still donate to the movement directly over here: http://bit.ly/10k4water

Don’t forget,
